What to Do on Labor Day (Aside From Party)

How do you plan on spending the first long weekend of the summer?

Folks have likely filed their VL’s for this one already.

Labor Day is just around the corner and people are itching to head out of town and slip into vacation mode for a quick escape or a little recuperation. The public holiday is, true enough, a cause for celebration. We’ve come a long way since working taxing 12-hour shifts, rallying to have labor laws put in place and protesting for better working conditions.

As one of the most awated long weekends of summer, hardworking Pinoys naturally will want to let their hair down (read: party). It’s well-deserved, yes. What we've noticed, however, is the obvious shift in people’s priorities. Some would rather explore other Labor Day party destinations than contribute to the country’s trash problem in paradise. Incidents like the closure of Boracay leave the LaBoracay-loving party-goers no choice but to face reality. While others insist on taking the party someplace else (another beach like La Union, for example), the signs of the times are an invitation to consider other Labor Day activities.
