5 Katy Perry Music Video Looks We’d Love to Recreate

Here's our celebrity style guide for halloween—or any day you feel like dressing up good—featuring Katy Perry

1. Black bustier and high heels in “I Kissed a Girl”

When Katy Perry first broke out into the pop scene, she brought pin-up throwback fashion with her. In I Kissed a Girl, the instant 2008 hit that first put her on everyone’s radar, you’ll find: bustiers (the ultimate Katy Perry dress), sexy sheer tights, sky-high heels and a throbbing beat that would easily fit into any 1950s burlesque club.

2. Pink tulle dress and aviators in “The One that Got Away”

Sure, The One that Got Away may paint a devastating picture of living with loss and regret (this also has to be one of the most heartbreaking Katy Perry songs ever), but style-wise? There’s nothing to mourn here. Katy looks especially charming in a dusty pink tulle dress—perfect for the wedding reception she gatecrashes with her boyfriend—and the reflective aviators she throws on after she wakes up with a wicked hangover the next morning.

3. Shimmery gold eyeshadow with burgundy lips in Thinking of You

Leave it to Katy Perry to take “funeral chic” to another level: In Thinking of You, she dresses in a sleek and severely tailored black skirt-suit, which she pairs with a matching French net face veil. For a pop of color, Katy rocks some intensely pigmented shimmery gold eyeshadow over her eyes and a deep burgundy shade on her lips—proving that even the worst day ever could be helped with the perfect lip. (Okay, maybe not, but it’s worth a shot. For full effect, watch this Katy Perry video before you start putting the look together).

4. Disintegrating muscle tee and bold drop earrings in “Teenage Dream”

On a much brighter note, there’s always Teenage Dream: Unless they’ve been living under a rock, chances are people you know have heard this song. Like most of Katy Perry’s singles, it was a radio staple for months until it was time…for another Katy Perry song to shine (in this case, it was Firework). There’s a reason this was such a hit—the song is all about being reckless in a way you can only really be when you’re young and Katy’s outfit in the music video embodies that sentiment; all ripped jeans and t-shirt holes and bra playfully peeking out from underneath.

5. Lime green eyeshadow all over the lids in “Hot ’n’ Cold”

We’ll bet you anything that sales for bright neon eyeshadow went through the roof after Hot ’n’ Cold went live. Katy’s whole look just pops—there’s no better word for it. Luminous gold over her brow- and cheekbones, a dusting of magenta on her cheeks, and sweet tangerine lips…this has “Katy Perry” all over it.
