10 Style Rules That Every Woman Should Break Once in A While
Where’s the fun in doing everything by the book?
Long-standing fashion rules are usually left unquestioned and unchallenged. We tend not to give much thought to traditional ways that dictate you can’t wear white after Labor Day (for those in the U.S., at least), black is for mourning and that women after 39 should never be seen wearing short skirts.
More so, when the style guidelines are given by fashion authorities who’ve made it their career to know what fashion choices flatter a woman in the best way, we commit them to memory. “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory,” was Coco Chanel’s formula for getting styling just right. American designer Michael Kors even boldly said at one point: “I know what women look good in. I don’t think the rules ever change.”
Then again, rules are made to be broken. As the late Alexander McQueen put it: “Fashion should be a form of escapism, and not a form of imprisonment,” so feel free to express and celebrate your individuality whichever way pleases you. Style is, after all, is very personal.
Go ahead and have fun learning the rules; have even more fun breaking them. Keep scrolling for 10 Style Rules That Every Woman Should Break Once in A While!
