Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 Winner, Maureen Wroblewitz Is Our #WCW

And yes, she’s more than just a pretty face

One of the latest to bring pride to our shores is Maureen Wroblewitz, the first Pinay to win Asia’s Next Top Model. Her instantly recognizable face and spot-on poses helped the Filipino-German beauty win the judge’s hearts, but there is more to the 19-year-old than meets the eye.

Let’s get this out of the way; she’s gorgeous.

Her face might be a less-than-traditional-type of beauty, but Maureen definitely knows how to work it. She’s absolutely beautiful and it doesn’t take a modeling contest judge to realize it.

She’s doesn’t look like a typical model.

But while her face is stunning, many people criticized Maureen’s win because she’s still considered to be on the short side of the modeling world. She’s only 168cm, which roughly equates to 5 feet and 5 inches. Yes, even with all that German blood, Maureen stands not much taller than the rest of us. And hey, if she can make the world believe she’s six feet tall, then we can, too.

She proves that passion and hard work trump experience.

Another big criticism of Maureen was that she had the least experience in the competition. But the thing is, she consistently got better throughout the season and she lived up to the potential that the judges saw in her. What’re long legs if you don’t know how to work them? And what’s a beautiful face when you don’t know how to work the camera?

She’s proud of her heritage.

“I was really trying to be the strong, proud Filipina,” Maureen told ABS-CBN of her last photoshoot on Asia’s Next Top Model. “[I] am proud to be a Filipina and I wanted to show that to everyone.” On the other hand, Maureen is also proud to be of German descent and will defend it just as bravely.

The future has so much in store for her.

As the winner of Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5, Maureen is bringing home a contract with London-based Storm Model Management. She will also be on the cover of Nylon Singapore’s online edition and will be featured in several other high-profile fashion campaigns.

She’s proven that she isn’t a “pretty face with no skills.” And really, there’s nowhere to go but up for this one.
